Staff at Bedford Lodge Hotel in Newmarket are celebrating after their hard work was repaid with a customer service award, beating off stiff competition from businesses across the town.
The four star Bury Road hotel scooped the Customer Focus prize at the Newmarket and District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards at a ceremony at the town’s Jockey Rooms.
Judges were impressed by the venue’s commitment to ensuring its clientele are given consistently high quality service, borne out of regular training sessions and strict operating procedures.
Bedford Lodge Chief Executive Noel Byrne said: “I am so proud of my team for winning this award. It is testament to their unwavering dedication to our guests, from whom we regularly receive glowing feedback.
“We’re all thrilled to have been recognised by the Chamber of Commerce in this way and will ensure that we continue to maintain our high standards of customer care.”
Mr Byrne added that Bedford Lodge’s low staff turnover helps the hotel to offer excellent customer service across all areas – including its wedding and conference offerings, Squire’s restaurant and The Edge Health and Fitness Club.
“We care about our staff, which means they are much more likely to remain with us for the long term – in fact, many of our team members have been with us for ten years or more,” he said. “This means that our service is consistent and that our regular guests can always be assured of a familiar face.
“As a result of our staff’s hard work, we have bucked the trend and increased our turnover over the past year.”
Bedford Lodge is currently undergoing a £5 million expansion programme to include the creation of 22 new bedrooms, with at least 25 further jobs to be introduced at the hotel as a result. A spa is also being built in the grounds of the hotel, which is due to open early next year.
