Staff at Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa have come together to raise an impressive £2,590.27 for St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St Edmunds, demonstrating their commitment to supporting vital local causes. St Nicholas Hospice was Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa’s chosen charity for 2024, voted for by the staff; the team held a number of different fundraising events throughout the year, as well as employees taking on personal challenges.
The fundraising efforts were driven by a series of inspiring team and individual challenges, with employees from various departments pushing themselves to their limits to gather donations for the charity. The Health and Fitness Club team took on two demanding challenges. To kick off the fundraising, the team endured a sponsored rowing challenge, where they rowed the equivalent of the Channel crossing and back on rowing machines, completing the arduous task in just under eight hours. This was followed by the Santa Spin challenge, which saw team members cycle a total of 200 miles to raise further funds.
Noel Byrne, CEO of Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa states, “I am incredibly proud of our team for raising £2,590.27 for St Nicholas Hospice. Their dedication and community spirit shine through in the incredible challenges they took on, from rowing and cycling to running a half marathon and braving the UK’s longest zip wire. St Nicholas Hospice provides vital care, and it’s inspiring to see our staff come together to support such a worthy cause. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and donated—your efforts will make a real difference to those in need.”
Among the individual participants, Rowella Langley, Health & Fitness Club Supervisor, took on a half marathon. Meanwhile, Kay Blanchard from the Housekeeping team, once again embraced a daring personal challenge. This year, she conquered Velocity 2 at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda, North Wales—the longest zip wire in the UK.
