Why Suffolk is a great holiday destination…

Suffolk is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery. We really are spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do. With beautiful beaches, idyllic villages and historic towns there really is something for everyone!

So what do you plan to do on your next visit?

 Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds is a historic market town and is just a stone’s throw from Bedford Lodge Hotel. Spend your day wandering around the abbey ruins, or pottering around the quaint lanes with boutique shops. Perhaps you’re a beer lover? Why not visit the Greene King brewery for a fascinating tour with beer tasting!

Nearby villages

Many of our guests choose not to venture to far as we have so many picturesque villages on our doorstep. Popular walking routes include the villages of Moulton, Gazeley & Dalham, which we call the three churches for obvious reasons. Ramble across fields, paths and streams whilst stopping on route for refreshments at one of the various pubs!

Clare Country Park

Clare Castle Country Park is a beautiful quiet area to relax, play, get close to nature and learn about Clare’s fascinating history and heritage. The park contains the remains of the 13th Century stone castle keep set upon its 60 ft high motte overlooking the town, as well as its inner and outer baileys which are ideal areas for recreation and picnics. The inner bailey also contains the former railway station which now houses the Platform One Cafe serving hot drinks and food throughout the year.

Cambridge

Pop into Cambridge for the day and explore the history of this beautiful city. Explore by foot, punt or bike! Cambridge is well known for its beautiful architecture, explore Kings College, The University Of Cambridge, and much more, all of which can be viewed from the comfort of your own punt!
