Championing sustainable tourism in Suffolk
Green Tourism
Tourism has the power to shape the places we visit — economically, environmentally and socially — but only if it’s done right. At its best, sustainable tourism protects the environment, uplifts local communities, and gives travellers more meaningful experiences.
Having attained the prestigious Green Tourism Gold Award in 2024, we’re proud to be part of this growing movement towards greener, more responsible tourism.
Tourism with a lighter footprint
Respecting people and place
Responsible tourism isn’t a type of holiday, it’s a mindset. It means thinking about how we travel, what we support, and the impact we leave behind. It calls on everyone, from visitors to businesses, to play a role in protecting the places we love.
There’s no one-size-fits-all blueprint for greener tourism. What’s seen as ‘responsible’ will differ across regions and cultures, but the goal is the same: tourism that benefits both people and planet. To learn what we’re doing about this, read our Sustainability & Environmental Policy Statement below.

- Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly.
- Reduce waste through re-use and recycling.
- Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making activities.
- Promote efficient use by regular monitoring of all materials and resources throughout the hotel including water, electricity, raw materials and other resources.
- Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of.
- Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public through our website.
- Ensure that staff and guests are aware of this policy by displaying it on notice boards around the site and making this policy available to other interested parties.
