Strictly Top Scores!

17 April 2009

They donned their dance shoes and foxtrotted across the floor as they gave a masterclass to a select group of 20 people before hosting an evening cabaret dance for 100.

The tuition afternoon scored a resounding 10 after 90 minutes of cha cha cha, foxtrot and quickstep, with the professional dancing duo putting the group through their paces, leaving them elated and breathless.

Steve and Caroline Shore from Moulton End near Newmarket were among those to enjoy the fun, taking to the ballroom floor for the first time ever.

Caroline, who got to dance with Vincent, said: “They are really good teachers and made it easy to follow. It was exhilarating, uplifting, frustrating and exhausting – while fantastic at the same time.” For Steve, it was great fun and made him want to improve his technique on the dance floor.

Vincent and Flavia heralded the masterclass a great success, with Vincent commenting: "It went really well. Most of the people were beginners and in just over an hour had learned three different dances. Even though some said they had left feet, they were all up and dancing!"

Flavia added: "It was a beautiful venue and a beautiful day with lovely weather. Everyone had a great time, they were a great bunch of people, very friendly and lovely, the time just flew by!"

Also spinning around the room were Colin and Elaine Archer from Ipswich, who were enjoying the day at the luxury four-star hotel as a birthday treat. Elaine had the pleasure of dancing with Vincent and said: "We learned lots of small tips which made all the difference to our dancing."

The pair have been to a few dance classes before but as Colin noted: "The great thing about learning these good basic dance steps is that you can get up and dance anywhere. It was really good fun."

One person who couldn’t join in was Robyn Palmer from Norwich who had broken his leg skiing and had to watch instead. His partner Suzy Wright did get to dance. She said: “It was really good fun. They picked some good dances "and Robyn got his plaster cast  signed by Vincent and Flavia!"

Bedford Lodge Managing Director Noel Byrne said: “It was great for those attending the masterclass as they were able to show off their new-found skills during the evening. Our banqueting suite at the Bedford Lodge was the perfect location and we’re looking forward to welcoming Vincent and Flavia to our sister hotel Barnham Broom next month for a repeat performance."
