The National Stud is a fantastic showcase for British thoroughbred breeding. It comprises over 500 acres of prime pastureland on the edge of Newmarket. Its facilities include accommodation for eight stallions and up to 200 mares in nine separate yards.
From March to September, and October race days,
the 75 minute tours by coach and on foot offer visitors of all ages a fun and informative look behind the scenes.

The Ultimate Private Stud Tour
This is the ultimate way to experience this once in a life time opportunity to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm.
A chauffeur will pick you up from Bedford Lodge Hotel and take you on a guided tour of The National Stud. From the springtime bustle of the Foaling Unit, to mares and foals enjoying the sunshine and summer grass and yearlings being prepared for the famous sales - you will be able to experience it all. After working up quite an appetite, the chauffeur will drop you back at Bedford Lodge Hotel afterwards, where you will be welcomed to either a 2 course Lunch at our famous two AA Rosette Squires restaurant or a 2 course Dinner.
